Smashbox Cosmetics is/was formally known as the makeup artist company, but after working with QVC and changing the ingredients as well as manufacturer of their makeup the company came in with horrid reviews from consumers, QVC forum members as well as makeup review websites.

The sellout of Smashbox Cosmetics to Estee Lauder was just released a few hours ago and has hit the main stream with Reuters.  The deal which is expected to close in July is still subject to regulatory approvals.

Smashbox Cosmetics was founded by two of Max Factors great-grandsons in 1996.  The makeup brand itself is strong in North American.

MAC Cosmetics is supposedly Smashbox’s closest competitor, but most makeup users and makuep artists know there isn’t a comparison between the brands, Smashbox is low end with high dollar products, where MAC Cosmetics is always sought out by makeup artists, makeup users, and anyone needing makeup with high pigment all day wear and affordable pricing for all ages.

MAC which is also owned by Estee Lauder, executives offered that by adding the Smashbox Cosmetics line they see a similar growth trajectory under their ownership.

MAC Cosmetics had sales near $100 million when Estee Lauder took over ownership and has grown to an over $1 billion business, said  President John Demsey of Estee Lauder Group said.

As of recent the Shu Uemura Makeup Brand line has not generated the prospective cosmetic sales it hoped to seek within the U.S. market.

Shu Uemura’s most well known and talked about makeup product was the eye lash curler that most makeup artists carry in their makeup cases.

The Examiner Makeup and Mineral Makeup News

When I was younger, late teens, and early 20′s I loved to go makeup shopping for all the cosmetics and makeup brands new colors, cheap makeup was best of course, but I did match my eye colors to my clothes, and had some great looks.  It’s one of the reasons I’m sure Nordstrom hired me on, since I bugged them everyweek for a cosmetic counter job.  It worked out great since Stagelight Cosmetics was my favorite, and full of loose powder colors.  Similar in fact to today’s loose powder mineral makeup eye shadows and the MAC Cosmetics Pigments.

Today when I work with client’s it’s usually pageants, bridal makeup, and business women needing image consultations, which I have been doing for well over 20+ years now.  Thank you Nordstrom and college.

First is the new Mineral Makeup News website and makeup brands reviews blog.  We’re not sure where their original blog was, but we know their new one is updated often, and makeup companies, mineral makeup companies etc that email them add their information and sales, so this is a handy website.

Makeup News is a relatively new website but their Makeup and Cosmetics News Twitter posts are up to the minute with makeup and cosmetics brands news from around the globe.  Some companies I’d never heard of but they have it all.

Mineral Makeup Reviews Organization is one of the few makeup and mineral makeup reviews websites that we have seen that it’s full of affiliate pictures trying to get you to buy other brands on other sites to make a buck like the rest of the makeup and mineral makeup blogs and review sites we’ve been to.

The Mineral Makeup Resource website is another makeup blog site that seems to be getting going, but is sure to be a place for anyone needing quick facts on ingredients, products, brands, reviews, etc.

The Mineral Makeup Company website also has a blog set up, but their main site sells several different brands of mineral makeup, makeup, skin care, and other cosmetics.  They do have off site affiliates to shop, but when offering site only discounts a sign up is worth it.

Rouge is the Proctor and Gamble makeup, skin care, and beauty magazine, it comes free, all you have to do is sign up for mail or newsletter service.  We get it monthly and love it, free makeup coupons too.

The Global Cosmetics Network website just opened their blog.  This site is still in the works, under our ownership as several others are, but we have had a nice buy-out offer, so just might be selling it soon.  But do check it out as we try to keep the blog updated as well as the links for makeup brands around the globe.

Didn’t see alot in the way of Google makeup news, and never mineral makeup news since they stopped using news websites and started using cosmetic blog sites for news.  No offense google, but um?  Blogs news is just women talking, how about in-cosmetics for real cosmetics news   and we do miss the Examiner Mineral Makeup News in the google news.
