Smashbox Cosmetics was founded by two of Max Factors great-grandsons in 1996. The makeup brand itself is strong in North American.
MAC Cosmetics is supposedly Smashbox’s closest competitor, but most makeup users and makuep artists know there isn’t a comparison between the brands, Smashbox is low end with high dollar products, where MAC Cosmetics is always sought out by makeup artists, makeup users, and anyone needing makeup with high pigment all day wear and affordable pricing for all ages.
MAC which is also owned by Estee Lauder, executives offered that by adding the Smashbox Cosmetics line they see a similar growth trajectory under their ownership.
MAC Cosmetics had sales near $100 million when Estee Lauder took over ownership and has grown to an over $1 billion business, said President John Demsey of Estee Lauder Group said.
