Makeup Advice – Makeup Review – Wash That Makeup Off
This is a skin care and makeup advice subject we talk to clients about daily. Yes mostly women clients, but here in the big city we do have both that come into our offices as well as numerous moms and teens.
The idea of washing your makeup off your skin when you are through with the day is just a beginning. As suggested by most physicians and aestheticians, including all of our staff, it’s best to wash makeup off whenever you don’t need to be wearing it. When you come home after a day at work wash your face. Remove all traces of makeup and let your skin repair by using your favorite night ritual skin care.
How to remove makeup is one of the most often asked questions we hear. Let’s start from scratch and we’ll tell you the best way to remove makeup one step at a time for healthy skin.
1. Start removing eye makeup first. You will need to use an oil based makeup remover. Remember natural oils are best for removing any makeup but essential to removing eye makeup quick while allowing your delicate eye area a special treatment of moisturizing natural skin care. We love straight olive oil from the grocery store.
We suggest and use a natural cotton round, though cotton squares work just as well. Never use a cotton ball due to the fact they have loose cotton fibers that will settle within eyelashes and get into the eye thus causing irritation.
At the outermost corner of your eye with lid closed, gently tap oil onto your lashes, then tap on eyelid and crease working from the outside of lid to inner. Most eye makeup should be on your outer eye area as this widens the eyes for a more youthful appearance if you’re over 32.
You can also apply your oil based eye makeup remover with your middle finger for a lighter touch. This works very well as the eye makeup remover is warmed by your own skin heat index.
Always keep the eye closed during eye makeup removing procedures, though with natural oils you’re less likely to irritate the eye, the chemical eye makeup removers work well also, we just prefer natural skin care products for a healthier approach to a longer life.
A few minutes or less is all that is needed to apply your eye makeup remover. You will then want to remove it with your eye closed in gentle downward strokes. Remover until most of the eye makeup removing product oil and makeup has been removed.
At times depending on the amount of eye makeup and mascara you used when applying makeup, it may mean repeating the procedures outlined above to remove all traces of eye makeup.
